MyHSR invites bid for consultant to assess social impact of KL-S'pore HSR

KUALA LUMPUR: MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd has called for a tender to appoint an independent consultant to provide social impact assessment on the 350km Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high speed rail (HSR) project.

“We encourage firms with relevant experience to participate in the tender to ensure that the KL-Singapore HSR project is implemented to international standards, not only from the project implementation angle, but also in terms of managing the social and environmental Aspects,” MyHSR Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal said in a statement today.

According to MyHSR, the tender is open to experienced companies registered with the Ministry of Finance, while individual consultants from companies that are responsible to conduct the study must be registered either with the Malaysia Institute of Planner or the Malaysia Social Impact Association.

As for the scope, the appointed independent consultant will be required to complete an independent assessment on the social and land use impact arising from the implementation of the KL-Singapore HSR project within Malaysia.
“The consultants are also required to identify effective mitigation measures for Implementation,” it added. 
A requirement under the Town and Country Plan Act 1976 for mega-infrastructure development projects, MyHSR said the study aims to determine and analyse the social and land use impact arising from the three stages of the KL-Singapore HSR project development, namely pre-construction planning and design, construction and operations.

MyHSR Corp said the consultant will be assessing the feedback provided by the public through the ongoing public inspection exercise with regards to the proposed KL-Singapore HSR project alignment and implementation plan which commenced on Nov 1.
